Optical repeater amplification and transmission system for broadband long distance communication

The optical amplifier and Repeater system has several lengths of transmission line (16), with repeater amplifiers (18) placed between the transmission lines. The optical fibre lines have a greater surface efficiency than normal. The optical repeater amplifier receives excitation from a signal with shorter wavelength than the normal excitation wavelength for repeaters. The repeater is formed from a transverse cut extended surface equal to 80 square millimetres or more. The repeater has several absorption layers at a shorter wavelength than the transmission wavelength. One of these absorption levels is input with an increased power level to provide the improved repeater response.
