The prosthesis is formed by a flexible elastic conduit of biocompatible material, defined by a flat sheet with complementary edge formations rolled to form a tube of a diameter close to that of the urethra. In its pre-assembled state the sheet is completely flat or has a curvature slightly opposite to that with which it defines the tube. The edge formations of the sheet consist of alternating projections (14a) and cut-outs (14b) along each longitudinal edge, with the formations of each edge offset relative to those of the other. Longitudinal holes are formed in the thickness of each projection, such that in the assembled state adjacent projections may be connected by a longitudinal thread (21) passed through the wall of the whole tube. |
