The milling head is driven by a shaft drive (20) at the bottom of which a gearing drives a bevel gearing with the output shafts of the bevel gearing supporting the milling heads. The bottom of the drive shaft has a spherical gear (25) which meshes with the splines on the inside wall of a sleeve. The sleeve drives the bevel gearing. The spherical gearing is on a thickened section of the drive shaft and has a close mesh with the sleeve. The gearing has a degree of freedom without stressing the gearing. A connecting gear (52) is positioned into the end of the sleeve and has a splined outer end (54) to drive the bevel gearing.
