The large capacity life raft (1) comprises an inflatable peripheral edge (2) forming a buoyancy fender and a central bottom (3). The bottom comprises a zone (4) forming a reception platform for embarking persons at the end of the raft. It has a re-assembly zone (5) for the embarked persons. The re-assembly zone occupies a relatively greater surface of the bottom than the reception platform. The reception platform and the re-assembly zone are separated by watertight partitions. The life raft is self erecting when launched into the water.
