PURPOSE:To require no time for recognizing the radiographing direction without being influenced by a local variation of a picture signal for showing a radiation picture, in the radiographing direction recognizing method for recognizing the radiographing direction such as the direction of the radiation picture of a body to be radiographed, the direction of the body to be radiographed at the time of radiographing, etc. CONSTITUTION:On a radiation image of a body to be examined, plural photometric areas 501A-501D are set, an average value of every photometric area of a picture signal for showing the radiation picture is derived, and a relation of magnitude of each average value is derived. By collating this relation with a relation of the average value derived in advance in accordance with the radiographing direction, the radiographing direction of the radiation picture is recognized. |
