An air heating device comprises a housing 1 incorporating a heat register 2 arranged so that air flows along the housing, through the register. To achieve a uniform air temperature 8 across the width 5 of the housing, the heat generation profile of the register is set to correspond to the incoming air flow profile 6, i.e. greater heating is provided where the air flow is faster. This may be achieved either by more densely arranging heating elements 3 in regions of high air flow, or by using elements with greater heating powers there. This arrangement may be used in laundry driers / washing machines etc. |
