Electrically insulating housings are formed about tubular elements, e.g. metal sleeves 8, by successively locating thermoplastic blanks 11 supported on a carrier strip 12 between spaced mating forming dies 1, 2, one of which 1 supports the tubular element 8, and closing the dies to cold form the blank 11 into the housing 14. The die part 1 may have cylindrical portions 3, 5 of different diameter and joined by conical portion 4, portion 5 having a flange 6 to support the flared end of metal sleeve 8 which is engaged and retained in the material of housing 14.</p> |
