摘要 A dual action indexing system and method for relatively rotating a lamina (94, fig. 14) to correct their inconsistencies in thickness to get a partial lamina stack with equal heights in a progressive die assembly. Also a desired skew angle between the laminas can be obtained. The dual action indexing system includes a mechanical indexer (22) such as a roller gear cam (88) which provides a large indexed rotational movement and a relatively small and fast servo motor (68) to provide a small indexed rotational movement. The rotational movements of the mechanical indexer (22) and servo motor (68) are combined by a phase adjuster (62). The combined rotational movement is used to rotate a choke barrel (80) without slippage and minimized backlash. Into the choke barrel the laminas (94) are punched as long as both indexed rotation movements are completed to form the lamina stack. The operation of the servo motor (68) is regulated by a controller (74) and may thereby be conveniently and rapidly adjusted.
