<p>An apparatus (5) for heat-treating synthetic polymer filament yarns (6) comprises: a pre- chamber (43) with a conduit connector (8) for discharge of air entrained with the incoming yarn; an injector nozzle (10) combined with a feed pipe (9) for the process steam; a treatment channel (12) having at least two narrow spots (11, 13) separating off a channel section, each spot followed by a conical expansion (41, 14). There are no inlet or outlet seals. There can also be: an intermediate chamber (15) from which a steam return conduit (40) leads to a pre-located nozzle (7); a post-connected chamber (18) with a conduit (21) for steam discharge and; a heated casing (19). Also claimed is application of the apparatus to production of synthetic filament yarns with relaxation.</p> |
