Production of vehicular tyres by winding strips of material onto pre-expanded tyre base

The method involves producing and laying an unvulcanised tread onto the tyre base section (5a). The latter is an expanded tyre blank, which includes its outer belt plies. Strip(s) (2a) of material in rubber and/or plastic are wound on. These lie together as windings, running in the circumferential direction. In this new process, one or more strips are used, wound together, producing adjacent zones with interfaces, seen transversely across the tread (7a). The interfaces terminate at the surface. Once vulcanised, one zone is harder than the other. Also claimed is the tyre manufactured by this method.
