Convection-driven hydrogen recombination chimney within nuclear power plant containment
摘要
This novel unit (1') recombines hydrogen in a gas mixture, especially when plant operation ceases for any reason. It includes a catalyst assembly (2) in a casing (4) allowing through flow under natural convection. The catalyst is preceded by a flame trap (8). Preferably, the flame trap (8) and an interceptor (14) precede the catalyst. The interceptor is integrated into the flame trap and cooled by the flow of gas mixture into the casing (4). Above the top outlet opening (28) from the casing, there is a drip roof (30). The flame trap has openings for the inlet gas flow, their mean diameter greater than 0.1 mm. Each is 0.2-3 mm in mean diameter. The catalyst assembly and flame trap border a maximum flame length of 0.3 m.
