A trolley for making pipe bends has a set of devices for cutting a length of pipe from pipe stock, for deburring the pipe ends, for bending the pipe and for applying pipe coupling nuts and olives. The pipe stock A is clamped between a fixed jaw 2a and a spring-biased jaw 2b which is movable away from the fixed jaw hydraulically. The cutting device comprises a circular saw 2c mounted on an hydraulically operated lever 2d. The pipe ends are deburred by hydraulically driven convex and concave milling heads 3a, 3b. The bending device 4 comprises a fixed or rotatable central former 4c, a fixed guide 4a and a movable guide 4b on an arm 4f. A central mandrel 4d, Fig. 2, is connected by a rod 4g to an hydraulic drive 4i. The drive may be mounted on the trolley frame so that the mandrel 4d remains stationary or be mounted on the arm 4f so that the mandrel 4d is drawn through the tube at the same speed as the guide 4b moves along the outside. The surface of the former 4c has a high coefficient of friction and the surfaces of the guides have a low coefficient of friction. The nut and olive 5a, 5b, Fig. 6, are applied by an hydraulically operated plunger 5j The pipe A is held in a support 5e whose outer edge 5t co-operates with a roller 5s on a rod 5r connected through a spring 5q to a valve closure 5p of a relief valve. The support 5e is chosen from a set so that the maximum pressure applied by the plunger 5j is selectable to suit the size and hardness of the tube. The hydraulic supply to the various devices is controlled by levers 3f, 2q, 2s, 4q, 5v. |
