A data terminal (100) is connected to the WAN and an order acceptance device (200). The terminal contains a communications device for requesting routing information from the server via the WAN, a display, a pointing device and an order information entry device. A controller enables the entry of ordering information via the input device in response to a pointing process. A second communications device transfers ordering information to the order acceptance device via a different communications network.
