Heat exchanger core for primary surface cooling in vehicles

The core (12) of the heat exchanger (10) has phase-related coolant passage (30) and passage (40) both in sinusoidal form so the top face (32) of passage is spaced parallel to the bottom face (44) of passage. With sinusoidal top and bottom faces in the second passage, these are in parallel spacing for preference, with the two passages arranged at 180 degrees phase to one another. The top face of the first passage engages the underside of the second passage so as to define transverse flow passage between them with each crossflow passage spaced and parallel to its adjoining passage. The first passage is flowed by coolant (Cp) as is passage whereas the transverse flow passage contains a transfer medium (A) to absorb heat from the core. The passage layout also has inlet and outlet manifolds and flow connections to the exchanger core. Typically the core can be moulded or extruded in plastics.
