The first (16) of the two clamping arms (16,17) has an internal thread into which a screw (6) is screwed. The second clamping arm has a support surface (35) facing the internal thread so that a flange (4) of a profiled support (5) can be clamped between the screw and the support surface. The clamping arms and connecting arm (15) joining them are formed from a flat refined steel piece which is bent into a U-shape on a bending line (14) parallel to the direction in which the connecting arm runs. The clamping arms, the connecting arm and any holes (19,21) or protuberances in the support clamp (13) are punched out of the flat steel at least 4 and preferably 6 millimetres thick.
