Tyre side walls have circumferentially oriented reinforcement mechanically coupled to the carcass plies. The reinforcement (6) is in groups consisting of sections of assemblies, each section having a length less than 0.1 of the maximum tyre circumference. Each group is coupled, close to the ends, to neighbouring groups by at least a 20% overlap.
