The roll milling process involves milling the material in a vertical roll mill (1) with a mill plate (3) having an upper milling track (8) and at least two milling rolls (4-7), supplying the material to the middle of the dish and taking the ground material out over its edges. A bed (9) of the material is formed on the track. The material is supplied to the track in layers. The fine-grain portion forms a first layer (17), and the coarse-grain portion forms a second layer (18) in the bed above the first layer. A sieve can be used to separate the material into these portions.
