<p>(Cyanoethyl) arylamines prepn. Amilines of formula I, where A is and, X=H, F, Cl, Br, (1-15C) alkyl, (1-4C) O-alkyl, opt. substd. aryl, Cf3, opt. substd. (1-2C) alkylenephenyl, opt. substd. PhO, opt. substd. PhCH2O, (2-5C) alkyl CO; opt. subst. PhCO; NH2, (1-4C) NH alkyl, (7-10C) N-alkyl-N-phenylamino, PhNH, (2-8C) N(alkyl)2, (1-6C) alkyl SO2, opt. substd. PhSO2, opt. substd. phCH2SO2, (2-8C) SO2N(alkyl)2, N-alkyl-N-phenylamindo-sulphonyl, or opt. substd. benzeneazo and Y=F, Cl, H, NO2 or (1-4C) O-alkyl opt. substd. by hal or OME, are useful herbicides and dyestuff intermediates. (I) are pred. by acid hydrolysis of the corresp. N-formyl-N-cyanoethyl arylamines in 1-30% aqueous acid and (opt.) a second solvent, at 0-100 degrees.</p> |
