The amplifier has a control device (1) with a generator (2) providing a test signal of variable frequency, used for measuring the impedance of the loudspeakers (4) coupled to the amplifier, in conjunction with a measuring device (3). The measured impedance values are entered in a memory (6), with regulation of the variable energy supply (8) for each amplifier driver stage (9) by the control device, for ensuring minimum power losses.
