The pedal (1) pivots between a rest position and an active position, and is provided with a coiled spring (10). The spring is located in such a way as to work as a tensile spring near then end region of the active position and is connected on holder parts (6,7) resistant to shear and tension. The holder parts are releasably attached to the coiled spring, and each has a cylindrical end section (6',7') with a threaded peripheral groove (11) for the coiled spring. The end sections of the spring are rigidly located in the end section of the holders, and have high radial internal stresses.
