Supervision and management function implementation for subsystem of data processing system

The method involves using a separate program interface (CM-API) for the access on the control mechanism (CONT) of the subsystem (RAID) through several competing, independent management modules (LMT, WWW-SA, SNMP-SA), so that a supervision and configuration of the subsystem can be accomplished. A control mechanism ensures that changing accesses on the subsystem are respectively performed by always only one user (e.g. SNMP-SA) at the separate program interface. The separate program interface is preferably implemented as a separate control module (CENG/CMM) which is based on an respective operating system (BS) of an associated processor (CPU) of the subsystem.
