The device includes three Hall effect magnetic sensors (2) orientated along 3D axes, connected to a data processing module (3) which calculates the values of the magnetic field components along each of the magnetic field along each of the three directions. When the field intensity exceeds a pre-set threshold, the processing module generates a control signal which triggers an alarm (4). A control module (5) which also receives the alarm signal cuts-off the power supply to the electrical equipment protected by the device.
