A demonstration apparatus for energy production from hydrogen, having a hydrogen reservoir and a fuel cell with a housing (16) divided by a membrane/electrode unit (11) associated at both sides with perforated collector plates (12) and contacts (15) leading to an external consumer, includes a transparent gas supply element (13) which has open channels (10) for gas supply over the membrane/electrode unit (11) and which is held under constant pressure by pre-tensioned transparent elastic material (14) in the space between each wall of the housing (16) and the gas supply element (13). Preferably, the elastic material (14) is silicone and the gas supply elements (13) and the housing (16) consist of plastic, especially acrylic glass.
