Resource assignment method for call connection of mobile station

The method involves receiving a call connection request from a mobile station (MS) which is arranged in the area of a base station (BS). The base station is controlled by a base station controller (BSC) which determines if enough resources can be made momentarily available for the call connection. If not enough resources are available, a parameter (P) is determined, corresponding to the transmission conditions of the mobile station, and the parameter is compared with a threshold value (S). If the parameter is less or equal to the threshold, the call connection request is entered in a local queue. If the parameter exceeds the threshold, the call connection request is handed over to a neighbouring base station for a directed retry, without entry into the local queue.
