An optical device (1) is provided with a body (2) and a unit (3) for the optical device. The body (2) is provided with a focusing ring (7) and a lens interchanging ring (9). The focusing is carried out by operating the focusing ring (7). The optical system of the optical device (1) is changed to a microscope optical system (M) or a telescope optical system (T) by operating the lens interchanging ring (9). The unit (3) is provided with a body holding member (75) to which the body (2) is detachably mounted, and a specimen mounting surface (91) on which a specimen (S) is mounted. The optical system of the body (2) is changed to a microscope optical system (M), and a specimen (S) is placed on the specimen mounting surface (91). The body (2) is set in the body holding member (75) of the unit (3). The specimen (S) is placed precisely in a predetermined position on the specimen mounting surface (91), and the unit (3) serves as a fixing base for the body (2), so that the operability of the optical device during the enlargement observation of the specimen is improved. |
