It is possible to lower the telecommunication expenses when transmitting a large volume of data through a telematic terminal from a vehicle to a central control unit (4) by applying a method consisting in transmitting to a central traffic control unit (4) both local data captured (x1, x2, x3, x4, x5) by a terminal (2), especially a telematic terminal for a vehicle (1), which local data implicit the location (x1 (t1), x4 (t4), x5 (t5) of said terminal (2) in a trafic network (A8, B17, B300) at a given time (t1, t4, t5), and measurement data which implicit other features (v, running time, T) of the traffic network in a location (x1, x2, x3, x4, x5) and/or at a given time (t1, t2, t3, t4, t5, t1 to t2), with the peculiarity that at least some data sets (11, 12, 13) transmitted by the terminal (2) to the central traffic control unit (4) contain only local data (x1, t1), x4 (t4), x5 (t5) and some others (14) transmitted (10) by the terminal to the central traffic control unit (4) contain only measurement data.
