METHOD FOR CONSTRUCTING OF ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTS

A method of constructing electronic documents is disclosed. The method uses referents for insertion of unspecified data at locations within a document. Refe rents are resolved by replacing the referents with logical streams of data referenced ther eby. The method of constructing electronic documents uses referents themselves referring to streams of data containing further referents. This facilitates use of referent b ased document construction. The method disclosed also permits transaction based docum ent construction for use in client-server and network applications.
