摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form C1 orientation of liquid crystals by a simple and versatile method to take place of control of pretilt angles by using liquid crystals of a specific value or above in the temp. width at which a smectic A phase is exhibited. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal panel body is constituted by sticking a substrate 10a having scanning electrode groups and a substrate 10b having data electrode groups in such a manner that these electrode groups face each other orthogonally and holding ferroelectric liquid crystals or antiferroelectric liquid crystals in the spacing between the substrates 10a and 10b. The liquid crystals of >=20 deg.C in the temp. width at which the smectic A phase is exhibited are used as the liquid crystals of such liquid crystal panel. The substrates 10a, 10b are adhered by striped members 1 formed periodically in the direction of uniaxial orientation treatments. The uniaxial orientation treatment of the substrate 10a having the scanning electrode groups and the uniaxial orientation treatment of the substrate 10b having the data electrode groups are approximately parallel.
