PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a throttle opening precisely by setting a fully closing reference value on the basis of an output of a throttle sensor when a throttle valve is fully closed, and setting a sensor signal as a fully closing reference value in the case where the throttle valve is not fully closed by operation of an idling-up means. SOLUTION: After engine start, in the case where an idling signal IDL from an idling sensor 4 is turned off and a throttle valve 3 is not fully closed, operation of a FIC (a first idling cam) mechanism is judged, an initial value at the time of FIC operation is set as a fully closing reference valueθ*, and a minimum value of a throttle detecting signalθV in a prescribed learning period which is set beforehand is set as a fully closing reference valueθ*. In a detector 10, a deviation between the fully closing reference valueθ* to be set and the throttle detecting signalθV by the throttle sensor 5 is found out, throttle opening TH is calculated from its deviation, and shift control is carried out from its value TH, car speed, and the like by a transmission controller 20.
