PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder storage device capable of preventing the erroneous detection of the amount of powder remaining in a powder storage container by using transmission light. SOLUTION: Light from a light emitting part passes through a transmission part 36a after reflecting from the reflection part 37a of a recessed part 28a situated opposite the light emitting part. In the case toner does not exist between the opposite transparent parts 36a and 36b of the pair of the recessed parts 28a and 28b, the light which has passed through the transmission part 36a strikes on the transmission part 36b of a recess 28b situated opposite a light receiving part, and is received by a light receiving part after reflecting from a reflection part 37b. The face of each of the transmission parts 36a and 36b with the toner is composed to that the inclination of a perpendicular to the contact face is set downward from a horizontal line, thereby accelerating the falling of the toner onto a toner hopper bottom by its weight. |
