PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a mere reproduction process or a process where its on literary work is duplicated and used and to perform the proper charging processing in response to the selection by reproducing a literary work after execution of a reproduction program, duplicating the literary work to store it in a storage medium as necessary, and settling the fee according to the reproduction or duplication information. SOLUTION: A literary work read/reproduction device 10 uses the literary work data received from a literary work management device 1 as the processing data to reproduce a literary work in a reproduction processing program area 12f of a program memory 12. A literary work duplication program 12e duplicates the literary work data stored in a data memory 14 based on a reproduction program stored in the area 12f and stores the duplicated data in an external storage 21 in a reproducible state. Then the information showing that the literary work is reproduced or the information showing that the literary work is duplicated is sent to the device 1. The device 1 receives the reproduction or duplication information on the literary work from the device 10 and settles the fee.
