PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character string editing system which efficiently suppresses the number of editing operations and further makes the operations efficient. SOLUTION: An operator watches a registration diagram shown on a display device 7 and designates an area he wants to edit character string overlapping with a keyboard 9 or a mouse. A character string detecting part 3 reads the diagram data of an area that is designated by a diagram data storing part 1 and retrieves a character string where overlapping occurs, and a character string ambient detecting part 5 searches for an ambient blank area of a character string. When a blank area is found, a character string moving part 6 automatically moves a character string to the area and solves the overlapping. When a blank area is not found, a character string contracting part 4 contracts a character string. After contraction, the part 5 searches for a blank area for a contracted character string and when it is found, the part 6 automatically moves the character string there and when it is not found, it moves the character string according to the instruction from the operator. |
