<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester/melamine resin-based coating material which gives a coating film having good external appearance, hardness, and processibility and excellent resistances to staining and acids by using a specific melamine resin mixture and by incorporating a sulfonic acid cure catalyst, a sec. amine compd., and titanium white into the coating material. SOLUTION: 100 pts.wt. resin compsn. comprising 65-95 pts.wt. hydroxylated polyester resin (A) having a number average mol.wt. of 1,500-30,000, a glass transition point of -20 to 40 deg.C, and a hydroxyl value of 3-50mgKOH/g and 5-35 pts.wt. melamine resin mixture (B) (as the curative) comprising 50-99wt.% methyl-etherified melamine resin and 1-50wt.% butyl-etherified melamine resin is compounded with 0.1-2.0 pts.wt. (neutralized) sulfonic acid compd. (C) as a cure catalyst, 0.3-10 pts.wt. sec. amine compd. (D) having a b.p. of 30-250 deg.C, and titanium white (E) prepd. by coating, with a zirconia layer and an alumina layer, rutile titanium oxide from which coarse particles having particle sizes of 0.5μm or higher have been removed.</p> |
