PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with voltage switching of a transducer diode and at the same time improve the sensitivity by eliminating a screen of a horn part of an electron multiplier. SOLUTION: After passing an aperture of a shielding plate 1, positive ions from a quadrupole mass spectrometer is attracted by a transducer diode 2, and responding to the collision of the positive ion, the transducer diode 2 emits secondary electrons in a quantity proportional to the quantity of the positive ions and the secondary electron is detected by an electron multiplier 4. Meanwhile, after passing the aperture of the shielding plate 1, a negative ion is attracted by a transducer diode 3 and responding to the collision of the negative ions, the transducer diode 3 generates positive ions. Then, the positive ions generated by the transducer diode 3 are attracted by the transducer diode 2 and due to the collision of the positive ions to the transducer diode 2, secondary electrons are generated and the secondary electrons are detected by the electron multiplier 4, so that both the positive and negative ions can be detected.
|
