PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dyed and printed products of a polyester synthetic fiber material which is advantageously decreased in the degree of lowering of the light fastness by suppressing the sublimation of an ultraviolet ray absorbing agent during processing of the material under a high temperature condition and use of a processed product at a high temperature by using a fiber treating agent containing a novel. ultraviolet ray absorbing agent having excellent thermal stability which is obtained by introducing at least one phenyl group into a 2,4-dihydroxy benzophenone type compound. SOLUTION: This ultraviolet ray absorbing agent comprise, as an effective component, a compound represented by formula I: wherein R1 is H atom, a halogen atom, or a methyl, a hydroxyl, a methoxy, a 2-hydroxy-2-phenoxyethoxy or a 2-hydroxy-3- phenoxypropoxy group; R2 is a phenyl group or a group represented by formula II wherein each of R3 and R4 is H atom, or a 1-4C alkyl or a phenyl group. Fiber products suitable for use of this fiber treating agent include nonwoven fabrics, fabrics, knitting and napped products thereof which are manufactured from a polyester fiber or a mixed fiber made from polyester and another material. In a bath for dyeing, an aqueous solution of a compound of formula I having a concentration of 5 to 50wt.% is used in an amount of 0.2 to 10wt.% relative to a fiber. |
