PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the execution of initiating operation promptly by a method wherein a time elapsed from a previous OFF time is measured upon putting a power supply switch ON and when the time of elapse is within a predetermined period of time, only the electric initiation of a print control unit is effected excluding the initiating process of a printer mechanism unit. SOLUTION: An initiation processing means 22, provided in the control unit 13 of a printer 11, resets a printing mode and a receiving memory, which are stored in a RAM 16, and controls a refresh processing means 24 to effect the refreshing operation of an ink jet head 1 when a power supply switch 26 is put ON. On the other hand, a reset judging means 19 measures the time of elapse from the previous operating time of OFF and initiation processing operation is changed in accordance with the time of elapse. In this case, the time of elapse from the time of operation of OFF to the time of operation of ON is measured and the time of elapse is within a predetermined period of time (3sec for example), only the initiating operation of the printing mode and the receiving memory is executed by the initiation processing means 22. |
