PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a host terminal communicate in a connecting LAN using plural significant protocols by forming a group by ports for communicating using the same protocols and providing plural virtual LANs for communicating between the ports in the group. SOLUTION: A frame switch 2 sequentially retrieves a port table 4, plural protocol ID tables 5, plural virtual LAN data tables 6 and plural MAC forwarding tables 7 based on the number of one of the ports 3 which received a frame, and a protocol ID and transmitting MAC address in the received frame. Then, a component corresponding to a destination MAC address in the received frame is retrieved from the retrieved MAC forwarding table 7, and the frame received in the port 3 shown by the port number of the retrieved component. Thus, communication is performed by plural protocols using one port 3.
