<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for map data base and its system for controlling efficiently various maps of a reduction scale corresponding to some region. SOLUTION: A map data base storing section 11 storing a map data file in which map data is specified by a reduction scale and a region index is provided in a device having a mode in which map data exists in a map index file in which a region index is specified in each region and a region in which land exists in the reduction scale map out of a region in which a region index is specified, and map data does not exist in a region in which land does not exist. A map control section 13 decides a region index in accordance with desired longitude, latitude and a reduction scale externally applied, map data in accordance with a desired reduction scale and a decided region index is read out from the map data base storing section 11 and outputted. A display 17 displays map data outputted from the map control section 13.</p> |
