MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which has a good surface characteristic and is suitable for high-density recording. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium has a nonmagnetic ground surface layer contg. carbon black and binder and a magnetic layer of <=0.5μm thickness which is formed thereon and contains ferromagnetic metallic powder and binder on a flexible nonmagnetic base. The ground surface layer and the magnetic layer contain the common binder. The adsorption to this binder is larger with the carbon black of the ground surface layer than with the ferromagnetic metallic powder of the magnetic layer.
