AMELINIC COMPOUNDS

Amelinic compounds of general formula (I): (see fig.I) wherein: R = H; at least one Rl, R2 and R3 = -CnH2n-O-R4 or CmH2m-N(R5)2 wherein n = 2 to 8; m = 2 to 6; R4 = H; (C1 8)alkyl; (C2-6)alkenyl; -CpH2p-O-R6 wherein p = 1 to 4 and R6 = H, (Cl-4)alkyl, (C6-12)cycloalkyl or (C6-12)alkylcycloalkyl; R5 = H; (C1-8)alkyl; (C2-6)alkenyl; (C6-12)cycloalkyl; (C612)alkylcycloalkyl; (C1-4)hydroxyalkyl; or -N(R5)2 is replaced by a saturated heterocyclic radical bound to the triazine ring through a N atom or by a saturated heterocyclic radical bound to the alkyl chain through the N atom and containinq another heteroatom selected from O, S and N; the remaining Rl, R2 and R3, identical or different, have the above-mentioned meanings or represent H: (C1-8)alkyl: (C2-8)alkenyl: (C6-16)cycloalkyl: (C6-16)alkylcycloalkyl: (C1-8)alkyl substituted with a -OH or a (C1-4)hydroxyalkyl radical; eventually substituted with a -OH or (C1-8)hydroxyalkyl radical; provided that: (i) when R2 and R3 = H, R1 is different from 2-hydroxyethyl; (ii) when -NRRl and -NR2R3 are each replaced by a saturated heterocyclic radical bound to the triazine ring through the nitrogen atom, the heterocyclic radical is not piperidine or morpholine; or (iii) when one of the qroups - NRRl and - NR2R3 is replaced by a morpholine radical bound to the triazine ring through the nitrogen atom, the other group is not -NH2 or morpholine; and (iv)2-hydroxy-4,6-bis(3-methoxypropylamino)-1,3,5-triazine is excluded. The invention also relates to preparation processes. Compounds of formula (I) are useful as anti-flame additives for polymers.
