<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent flying ball performance of a golf club with a plate like hitting member fixed on an opening of a head main body made of a metallic shell body with a side facing U-shaped cross section, by making a ball hitting member to have tensile stress in the direction parallel to a ball hitting face. SOLUTION: A plate like ball hitting member 2 is fixed on an opening part of a head main body 1 consisting of a metallic shell body with a side facing U-shaped cross section to make a golf club head. A hosel 3 to be mounted with a shaft is integrally formed on the head main body 1, and the ball hitting member 2 is made to have tensile stress in a direction parallel to the ball hitting plane, for instance in directions of a top part 1A and a sole part 1B and/or a toe and a heel. The ball hitting member 2 is preliminarily set to be little wider and applied by tension, for instance by tensing the ball hitting member within the elastic limit of the material in the upward and downward directions putting the top end and the sole end of the ball hitting member in the midway, and is fused to the opening part of the head main body 1 to be fixed as it is.</p> |
