PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve curing efficiency and baking yield and, in its turn to better productivity by dissolving a thermoplastic phenol resin in a thermosetting resin in a method for producing a glassy carbon material by curing the thermosetting resin and baking. SOLUTION: Before a thermosetting resin such as at least one thermosetting resin selected from furan resin, phenol resin and modified furan resin is cured, for example, a thermoplastic phenol resin is dissolved in the thermosetting resin. The viscosity (measured by a Brookfield viscometer) of the thermosetting resin is preferably 100-10,000cp. Preferably, the thermosetting resin has water absorption properties of >=20wt.%. The thermoplastic phenol resin has preferably 3,000-50,000 weight-average molecular weight. The amount of the thermoplastic phenol resin added is 0.1-10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the thermosetting resin. |
