PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract and translate a character string which is expressed in the image data by extracting a character string from the image data and converting this character string into the text data after recognizing it. SOLUTION: The character string data are extracted from the image data stored in an image storage area 53 by a character string extraction processing program 43. A character string of the character string data is recognized by a character recognition program 42 and stored in a translation object character string area 54. The text data (English) stored in the area 54 are translated into the Japanese words by an English-Japanese translation processing program 41, and the translated character string data are stored in a translation result storage area 55. Then an image is composed from the image data stored in the area 53 and the text data stored in the area 55 by an image composition processing program 44, and the composed image data are stored in the area 53. |
