<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image processing unit in which high quality image processing taking continuity of an image into account is conducted while reserving edge information of an image signal resulting from reading an original image. SOLUTION: A discrete analog image signal of an image of an original read by a CCd image sensor 9 is given to an A/D converter section 42, in which the signal is quantized into by a digital image signal in 1's complement expression and a filter processing section 44 applies high frequency emphasis processing to the quantized digital image signal to compensate deterioration in the MTF and provides an output of an image signal in 2's complement expression to a magnification processing section 45. The magnification processing section 45 applies magnification or reduction processing to the image and a conversion processing section 46 converts the result into 1's complement expression and a plotter section forms a visual image based on the image signal after the conversion or a communication control section 48 conducts transmission processing. As a result, while reserving edge information of the original image, high quality magnification processing is applied to the image signal whose image continuity is reserved.</p> |
