PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gradation display method and device therefor in which reduction of picture quality caused by animation pseudo contour is suppressed. SOLUTION: One field period is divided into plural sub-fields, gradation is displayed by combining sub-fields including plural sub-fields weighted in a range in which luminance of some sub-field exceeds less than two times to one time of luminance of the lower order sub-field being adjacent in order of magnitude of luminance. Also, the device is provided with a luminance information code conversion circuit inputting binary numbers indicating weight of luminance of plural sub-fields and outputting luminance information indicating weight in a range in which luminance of the upper order sub-field being adjacent in order of magnitude of luminance exceeds less than two times to one time of the lower order sub-field. |
