PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a pixel electrode formation area expandable, make the aperture larger, and improve the luminance as to a liquid crystal panel, specially, a pixel electrode and constitution for its formation. SOLUTION: On an active matrix substrate 32, where a gate bus line 1, a data bus line 2, and an active element (TFT 3) are formed, a insulating stepped insulating layer 34 or an insulating layer as some part in an pixel electrode formation area is formed and on the insulating layer 34, pixel electrodes 36 and 37 are formed which are insulated by its step part along the thickness of the insulating layer 34 to expand the formation area of the pixel electrodes 36 and 37, thereby making the aperture large and improving the luminance. |
