<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute a comparison operation at high speed by outputting the final compared result of two numbers by means of the compared result of lower digits when higher digits are equal. SOLUTION: N-pieces of one bit comparison means 10, 20 and 30 of an N-bit comparator compare the two bits ai and bi (1<=i<=N-1) of the respective digits of the two numbers A and B with N-bits. When the two bits are equal, a second output is outputted at a first level, a first output is outputted at a second level and a complementary second level. When ai is larger than bi in the two bits, the second output is outputted at the second level and the fist output is outputted at the first level. When ai is smaller than bi in the two bits, the first and second outputs are respectively outputted at the second level. A final comparison means 40 inputs the first and second outputs of the one bit comparison means 10, 20 and 30, and output the final compared result of the two numbers by the compared result of the lower digits when the higher digits are the same.</p> |
