The device for holding the cutters (16) of the rotary cutter, of the strimmer (RTM) type, with a vertical axis, is formed around a hub (12), which is fitted so as to be driven in rotation by the motor shaft. A plate (18) is fixed solidly to the hub and carries four sectors (20), which are fixed to the hub, by means of flexible links (22), which are formed as links (24) of chain. Each of the sector plates covers ninety degrees and is arranged to fit below the plate. A cutter (16) is then fixed to each of the sectors by means of pivot joints, such that the cutters are able to pivot around the vertical axes (28). The cutters are held in radial positions by the centrifugal forces generated by the rotation of the cutting head.
