<p>A computer tomography device includes an X-ray source (1) for irradiating an object (2) by means of X-rays from a plurality of directions, a detector system (3) for measuring density profiles of the object from a plurality of directions, and a reconstruction unit (23) for deriving an image signal from the density profiles. During the measurement of the density profiles, the X-ray source (1) and the detector system (3) and the object (2) are displaceable relative to one another in a longitudinal direction which extends transversely of the X-rays. The detector system (3) comprises an asymmetrical system of detectors and the density profiles are measured through at least 4 π radians. The computer tomography device comprises notably a data processing unit which is arranged to select a scanning plane and to compute computed density profiles in the scanning plane from respective measured density profiles which have been measured all around the patient, to both sides of the scanning plane.</p> |
