The invention is characterised in that the mass distribution of the motor (17) and of the band saw has been spread so as to eliminate as much as possible the torsional moment on the rail. The structure of the band saw rests on the rail by means of the grooved roller (14) acting as a mobile carriage. The structure of the band saw is made up of a horizontal tubular section (17) which supports at one of its ends the plate supporting (16) the motor (17), at its other end a section (18) inclined relative to the vertical plane and perpendicular to the inclination of the flat metal bars (6) mounted on the supporting brackets (figure 3). The tubular section (18) holds in place at its lower end the driving pulley (19) and the driving wheel (20) of the band saw (36) blade. Likewise, on the tubular section (18) is located a mutually perpendicular tubular section (21).
